9+ years in telecom, yet ₹8 LPA · Oracle DBA at Vodafone Idea · Job at risk · Now Cloud Architect in Canada
Rishabh Sinha had already spent years as an Oracle Database Administrator at Vodafone Idea in Kolkata: solid, technical, telecom-sector work. But in 2018, drawing ₹8 LPA, he ran into a hard truth that a lot of people in telecom eventually face. IT and telecom look similar from the outside, but they are not the same world. His skills were rooted in a telecom environment, and that was not automatically transferable to the core IT services industry.
Then the ground shifted further. Vodafone Idea began moving operations from Kolkata to Bangalore, putting his job at risk, right as he was carrying real responsibilities at home, including a medical crisis in the family. He needed more than a job. He needed to rebuild his skill set to a level that could stand in the core IT market, and he needed it to work.
Meeting Upendra
That is when he connected with Upendra. In his own words:

Rishabh went back to basics. He rebuilt from fundamentals to advanced to what he calls "super advanced", treating his existing telecom-DBA background as a foundation to sharpen, not a shortcut to lean on.
Where it went
The results compounded fast. He moved to Mphasis as a Senior Oracle Database Administrator at ₹13 to 15 LPA. From there, with Upendra's continued guidance, he landed at Cognizant at ₹19 to 22 LPA, which turned into rapid promotions that took him to ₹30 LPA. Today, Rishabh works as a Cloud Architect, based in Canada, earning ₹50 to 55 LPA, specialising in cloud infrastructure, pre-sales and large-scale migrations. A long way from a job that was about to disappear in a company relocation.
